What to see and do

Explore Gloucestershire

There is so much to see and do in the area around Swan House. Here's some of our favourites to entertain all our guests, young and old.

Every day at the Corn Hall in Cirencester, there is a market of some sort – from food to things for the house beautiful. Best days are Saturdays, everything has to have been made by the exhibitor:

Cotswold Craft Market

Corn Hall Cirencester

You can go Ballooning in the Cotswolds. We’ve done it and it is a truly memorable experience!

There is also clay pigeon shooting.

Racing at Cheltenham: The Cheltenham festival is 11th to 14th March. We’re about half an hour away.

There will be a Cotswolds Olimpick Games this year and it includes the British shin kicking championships.

And you can partake in some nearby River football, whilst horse riding is available locally at Bourton Vale Equestrian Centre and at Cotswolds Riding.

For shopping, if you’re looking for a wedding outfit, my dear friend Jenny Edwards Moss at Stow on the Wold is the place to go.

Just three miles away is Chedworth Villa, probably the most stunning Roman villa in the country.

Children’s activities

There’s lots to do with children close-by. Here are just some that we recommend:

Cotswolds Wildlife Park

The Water Park has everything from a beach to waterskiing.

Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park.

You can see rare breeds and feed the goats at The Butts Farm Rare Breeds.

For all events coming up, we usually refer people to the Cotswolds What’s On guide. It lists every type of event and entertainment you could want.

Locally, there is a farm trail at Chedworth Farm Shop. The farm is run by the people who do our hampers. They will also fill the fridge for guests if you want them to – what a treat!
